Places are used as point-of-interest. You can create a place for a company or any location you want and connect it to an address. Use places instead of writing the same address over and over again.

Sometimes the address you want to use is not in the map providers database. In those cases you can create your own custom address. Start by either click on the map or write the address you want to get close to the location. Thereafter you can edit the address.
